About Cop Smart

That's the way we've always done it.

After hearing that explanation one too many times, Nate Grimm realized it was usually code for "I don't know another way." So he decided to do something about it.

Cop Smart was founded based on the belief that officers should have the knowledge and skills they need before they need to use them. Working outside the organizational structure of policing allows us to look for what's coming next, change when we need to, and say things cops need to hear.

The policing profession tends to be reactive when it comes to changing how business is done. The status quo wins until something forces a change. Especially in training. We want to be that change.

And because police are only one piece of the community safety puzzle, we want to share what we know with educators and businesses too.
